Bear sightings
There have been many bear sightings throughout Elk Valley campgrounds, recreational areas, and communities. Make sure to secure garbage and other attractants and be prepared to encounter bears. There have been several recent black and grizzly bear sightings at the following locations:

Fernie
Bears have been seen on Cedar Bowl Crescent and on What’s up Doc and Roots bike trails.

Elkford
Bears have been spotted at the campground, Teck parking lot, Natal Road, Needles Crescent and a grizzly was seen by the new Rec Centre.

 



Sparwood
Bear sightings have been reported at Spardell Mobile Home Park

South Country
Bears have been seen at Hawkley Road in Jaffray, a grizzly was reported at the guide’s camp at the Bull River, and there have been sightings on Tie Lake Road.
